Robert Judson
My work in terra cotta includes bas-relief, tiles, cactus planters,
wall and pole birdhouses, and candle lamps, and is shaped in part by
my admiration for the work of ancient egyptian and middle eastern
cultures. From plaster casts I have designed, I apply patterns to
hand-built and wheelthrown forms. The work also has a variety of
textures, some made by wire-cutting, sandblasting, and rammed-earth
methods. I make my own clay, often from the ground up, and slake it
in tubs of water in the ancient way. The clay, when fired, holds up
well in all weathers. My art can be purchased at the Boulder Potters'
Guild spring and Fall sales and at my studio in Berthoud.
